Past Scenario & Approach : Life Before Aakar, and the Impact After

Before Aakar Charitable Trust’s intervention, villages in drought-prone regions struggled with acute water scarcity, barren lands, and migration in search of livelihoods. Aakar adopted a sustainable approach of building check dams, harvesting rainwater, and empowering communities to become self-reliant. This grassroots model has turned despair into hope, creating thriving ecosystems and resilient futures.

Trusted by Communities, Backed by Supporters

We wish to place on record the deep appreciation we have for Aakar Charitable Trust's water conservation efforts in Rajasthan and other states of the country. We also value the hands-on approach taken by you in each of these projects. We have partnered with Aakar for over 6 years now and have been supporting the construction of check-dams across various villages in Rajasthan. We find the work you do to be genuine, impactful and meticulous. Special consideration for how the projects you execute, involve the local communities and get their buy-in and contribution. This aspect of the work being done by Aakar, we haven't observed in many organisations.

Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City has sponsored over 80 check dams, constructed by Aakar Charitable Trust and our Members have been visiting check dams regularly. At our last visit to Pali, Rajasthan along with our International Club members from Rotary Club of Oakland, USA, we were overwhelmed seeing the happiness of the villagers seeing the children jumping into the dams and swimming, the villagers singing and dancing with joy. Amlaji has transformed villages and the lives of villagers and we are blessed to play a small part of this process.
